In a month filled with posts about 2023 trends and predictions, we’re turning the tables to talk about 7 marketing “trends” we predict will always be in fashion.
1. Good content will always win.
How content is delivered, its format, where it’s delivered and how Google, social media channels and AI tools like ChatGPT prioritize content will continue to flux. But good content will always reign supreme.
2. Getting the right message in front of the right people at the right time will always be a challenge.
And a key to business success.
3. People don’t want to be “sold to.”
Relationship building, listening and storytelling will continue to be important tools to foster trust and drive sales. Don’t let recession fears cause you to sacrifice any of these.
4. People love pictures of people.
We have worked in social media for 14 years, across a multitude of platforms and industries, and we see one strong constant: photos (and videos) of real people outperform other content.
5. Entertaining content = higher engagement.
When your goal is to educate or convert, if your content also entertains and/or inspires, you will get more engagement. We’ve seen this with longer-form video for years and now see it with infographics, memes and short-form video like TikToks and Reels.
6. There will never be a silver bullet.
There has never been a single, magical, marketing tactic that saves the day. And there never will be. In fact, as audiences become even more fragmented, a multi-pronged, targeted, strategic approach will be more important than ever.
7. Puppies, kittens and babies will always be cute.
That doesn’t make them appropriate for every brand or campaign, but they will always grab people’s attention.
Change is the only constant you can count on. At the same time, the more things change, the more they stay the same. What would you add to this list?
