Why Work with Us
We understand writers, speakers and thought leaders.
We have a passion for and are experienced at working with authors to help them increase their visibility and grow.
We bring a full-service approach to websites.
At Thrive, everything connects under one cohesive strategy – from branding to copywriting to design and SEO .
We are NOT a fly-by-night web builder.
Thrive is a trusted, award-winning, A+ rated and BBB-accredited agency that was founded in 2003. Our small but mighty marketing team will be here long after your site goes live to support you.
We provide personalized service and top-level talent.
Unlike a large agency, where projects often get sold by a senior team member, then handed to a junior newbie, at Thrive, you will only work with senior-level experts.
We focus on results.
An elevated online presence. More visibility. More engaged readers.
“The day I met Kelly Kirkendoll, my world changed. Here was this poet, who, at that time, had finally been published after struggling for 20 years. So how did I unleash my first book onto the world? Thrive PR was the answer. Together, with Thrive PR as my guide, I have moved into circles, and reached audiences I would have NEVER reached without Kelly and her team.
Who knew at the onset that I’d be named Texas Poet Laureate, publish over a dozen more books, co-create a coffee table poetry/photography book after traveling to all my friends at 63 National Parks, win incredible awards, become a keynote speaker, collaborate on a book/CD with the legendary Michael Martin Murphey and more!?
We are in this together. We are in this for the long haul. It’s now been over a decade, and Thrive has supported me and my work every step of the way – from strategy and branding to media coverage (which used to be easier to get ‘back in the day’), to social media, award promotion and my amazing website. I wouldn’t be where I am without Thrive PR!”
“Thrive PR was essential to our organization! Not only did they get the word out about what we did, but Kelly Kirkendoll and the staff are absolutely fantastic to work with — professional, knowledgeable, flexible, and savvy — a true dream team.”
FAQs About Author Websites Created by Thrive PR
How much does a customized author website typically cost?
Pricing depends on your goals and scope. The cost of most of our author websites ranges from $3,500 to $8,000.
What's the difference between a website template and a custom website built by Thrive PR?
A website template is, essentially, a pre-built website that you drop your own logo, images and copy into. It’s advantages include speed and cost. It’s disadvantages include limited customization, a site that isn’t unique (it looks like many others in your niche), can be slower to load and difficult to grow and scale with.
On the flipside, a customized site is written, built and designed just for you and your goals, brand, needs and user experience. Custom website advantages include: it not only stands out but it’s tailored just to you, your needs, your brand and your target audience; it’s typically faster and more powerful for SEO, it’s built to integrate with your CRM, email marketing and scheduling tools; it looks and feels more polished and professional, which can increase your credibility and conversions. It’s disadvantages include a higher cost, longer build time and maintenance is typically required.
Do you write the website content too?
Yes. In most cases, we write the copy for the entire website, after researhc, a discovery session(s) and additional information and insights from our client. In some cases, instead, we edit and refine what they’ve written to ensure it connects with their ideal clients and follows best practices for SEO and AI search engines.
Do I need a brand before building my website?
If you don’t already have one, we’ll guide you through a mini brand strategy process before design begins. It ensures your colors, fonts, and messaging align perfectly. Additionally, if you need a logo or a full rebrand, we can provide that as well.
Do you build customized or template author websites?
We build only custom websites. Every author is unique. Every website should be too. Take a look at our sample websites – you won’t find any cookie-cutter websites nor any that sound or look the same, even within the same industry.
If an author already has a great website, can you provide content creation for authors?
Yes! We can write bios, book descriptions, blog content and calls-to-action aligned with your author brand.
Do you help with photography?
Great photos are important for any website. We can guide you on photo direction for book and/or brand photographer (if you don’t already have these). We’ll also comb through existing assets and, if needed, research and select beautiful, on-brand stock photography, to tell your story visually and ensure a cohesive visual style.
Can you update or redesign my existing website?
If you simply need some content and image updates, we can typically do minor updates to an existing website. If you need new pages built or existing pages overhauled … or a full redesign, we’ll review your site and it’s backend to determine if that’s possible. A new website may be more cost-effective, depending on the scope of the changes, how old your website is and your existing backend.
What platform do you build websites in?
At Thrive, we build new websites in WordPress. In some cases, where a client has an existing website that isn’t old, “broken” or totally off-the-mark for them, we can edit or possibly redesign within their existing WordPress site or other platform (like Wix, Squarespace). After understanding a client’s goals, assessing their existing site and determining a client’s budget, we will let them know what we recommend to best accommodate their needs. A new website build is often, but not always, the best solution.
